It was scary but at two feet thick I knew the ice wouldn’t open. It was near shore where the ice was rotten and riddled with water lily stems that I worried and steered clear.
You never been hit with an ice ball LOL
Lake Louise, Alberta. I have only been there during the summer. It is on my bucket list.
Lake Jenny is Stunning

There are some new studies on skating and hip replacement. And it wasn’t on skating but ice hocky. Different physicians have different opinions, your surgeon may have spotted something specific to you. The article I just searched mentioned that skating was an un-natural motion but some opinions on skating were changing.
Bottom line, you should have had your knees replaced instead, my surgeon said I could do anything I want.
We did the Sleigh Ride around Lake Louise. If it’s not already, it needs to be on your Bucket List.
One of the very few advantages of living in this cesspool called Massachusetts is that, regardless of where you are in this small state, you're within driving distance of the finest health care in the world.
My surgeon has told me that the two things I want to avoid are the hips getting infected or dislocated...both of which he says are major problems.
Perhaps he understands that a klutz like me would fall and dislocate a hip.
You're lucky having been given carte blance...I have many restrictions.
Always nice to have someone clear the snow from the ice for you to skate on it...
8825 S. Clyde Avenue, two blocks east of Jeffery. Essex 5-5860. Why can’t I remember things today when I can remember so much from childhood? Joseph Warren Elementary School on 92nd St. Now whenever I search for the school, I read about the murders in the schoolyard where we played on the jungle gym. I do remember one murder when I was just out of high school. One of my homeroom classmates was one of the nurses killed by Speck a few blocks from my grammar school.
If only Mass General weren’t such a pain to get to. But a lot of the doctors also have offices at Newton-Wellesley, which is much easier to reach off 128.
My girlfriend broke her hip in Framingham. I remember what a slow recovery it was. Also had a friend who had his hip replacement replaced for infection. Follow your surgeon’s instructions!!!! Do take care of yourself. You’re much too precious to go through such pain ever again.
Rideau Canal in Ottawa
While I’ve never done a ping list myself, I think you’ve got it - I got the heads-up & I otherwise might have missed it. Thanks
Stayed there. But the elevators were closed down and we had to use the stairs to get to our room. LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!! Any Canadian Pacific Hotel is worth the trip. Also love the Mt Washington Hotel in New Hampshire.
I’m always terrified by doing something new. It takes me a while to get up the guts to try and I’m always scared until it works. But I do it. I’m just scared. Back when I worked, I lived in constant terror. I always took on projects that I hadn’t the faintest idea how to do and they were always under deadline. I made it, but I lived in absolute terror throughout all those years.
We have a large family so we always stay at some of the cabins down the road.
