The SEC Championship live blog: Dawgs get complete revenge and punch Playoff ticket
SB Nation ^ | December 2, 2017 | Jason Kirk

Georgia 28, Auburn 7, final. A total reversal of Round 1. Auburn again missed scoring chances, but they wouldn’t have even mattered. With a 240-yard rushing day against Auburn and an efficient day by Jake Fromm, Georgia again looks like the most complete team in the country, if not necessarily the best. At the moment, I’m projecting UGA to meet Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl. The last two Power 5 title games matter here, though.

Auburn scored on their first possession and laid an egg after that. Kerryon Johnson was if anything a negative factor as his fumble midfield lead to UGA scoring the back breaking TD.

Even if I wasn't a Georgia fan I would have been rooting for this result. It would have been a minor travesty to have an Auburn team with two losses included among the four NCAA playoff teams.

If Wisconsin and Clemson both win tonight, this likely means the four playoff teams would be (in no particular order):

Clemson
Georgia
Oklahoma
Wisconsin

Any controversy here? I don't think so.

Now if Ohio State wins decisively, then...

I don’t know. An Ohio State with two losses? I wouldn’t let them in.

Tim Tebow seems to be of the opinion that the playoff should be an all SEC tournament

How is it redemption when Alabama once again gets handed a national championship?

Sorry the voters will do anything to get Alabama in. Alabama was ranked #5 ahead of Georgia for the game.

Auburn humiliated us a couple of wks ago. Today we won 28 to 7.

That’s redemption!!

Does Alabama even make the playoffs?

The best case scenario would be if Wisconsin just wins outright.

No controversy at all.

I'm assuming Clemson wins too..

Again, no controversy.

Playoffs would be (1)Clemson vs (4)Wisconsin and (2)Georgia vs (3)Oklahoma. I'm assuming the the Committee will put Georgia at 2, but we'll see.

Alabama would be favored over Georgia. There will be controversy. If Wisconsin and Clemson win, there will be a big controversy on whether Alabama or Georgia should be in. It’s so simple to see that an 8 or 12 team playoff (with byes) is needed...the suits in the NCAA are always so slow to react to what is obvious to all. They are the sports version of the US Congress.

I like the idea that if you want to be top 4 you must play out of conference teams but you must in the future schedule div 1 contenders vs div 3 wash outs. That’s like free by week, unfair to schools that play real teams.
Mercer College, sorry, I never even heard of it

After Auburn washed out Alabama and Georgia beating out Auburn.
Honestly, it shouldn’t even be a controversy. Unless the fix is in for Saban

Auburn also beat Georgia 40-17. Alabama did not get the benefit of a rematch with Auburn.
