There really can’t be a serious debate about this. Both animals are domesticated, and appeal to people on different levels. But, dogs are intelligent enough to be trained to assist people, anything from helping the blind, assisting the infirm, or even recognizing symptoms and comforting those in distress.
Cats are great low maintenance pets.
Dogs are family members.
If a prowler broke into your house, your dog will fight him to the death to protect you.
A cat would stand aside while you are murdered, and then rub up against the leg of the killer, all the while arching its back and purring.
