Regularly posting on his Instagram page the Chicago-based photographer Jason M Peterson, who has been taking pictures for the past 25 years daily, constantly pushes his limits within the confines of black and white photography.
'I'lI shoot photos that try and make you feel something,' he told Cover Images.
'Black and white is simply a way I feel makes you focus on the emotion of the photo with less distraction.

It takes true talent to photograph in black and white. I love watching old movies for that reason as well, they were real masters with light and shadow
Im reminded a bit of these photos from the 1950s that were almost lost from photographer Vivian Maier..

To me, they’re the images of memories since the box of photographs of my family are mostly black and white.
29 Nov: ChicagoArchitecture: Opposition Growing Against Obama Museum Eating Jackson Park
Written By Editor
Just a day after the Chicago Sun-Times reported that the feds are going to examine the placement of the Barack Obama Presidential Center on a prime chunk of public park, neighbors are getting organized to save their green space.
Save the Midway has been formed to protect the citys beloved Midway Plaisance from a parking garage and charter bus staging area that the Obama Foundation wants to build at the head of the historic strip of vegetative oasis...
The group has put out an open letter to the Foundation, voicing its concerns. Overtly, it seems to think it has a leg to stand on because the Plaisance is on the National Register of Historic Places. The undercurrent in the letter seems to be that they dont want the Obama museum sucking up part of Jackson Park, either, but know theres not much they can do about that.
Just as everyone assumed this project was a foregone conclusion, things are starting to look interesting. Read the open letter from Save the Midway below....

29 Nov: HydeParkHerald, Chicago: EDITORIAL Sh! Sh! Dont tell Trump
Please, please do not inform the President of the United States that some of the agencies under his administration have something to say about the location of the Obama Presidential Center.
It turns out that under the National Environmental Policy act and the National Historic Preservation Act both the Federal Highway Administration and the federal Advisory Council on Historic Preservation have something to say about the changes contemplated in historic Jackson Park to accommodate the center...
There have been, for several years, many comments by the talking (and writing) heads of political wisdom in our country about the Politics of Vengeance being seemingly practiced by the present residence of the White House against its most recent past resident.
He (Trump) has by presidential order reversed environmental rules and other regulations on businesses, approved the Keystone pipeline project and walked away from the Asian trade agreement and the Paris climate agreement...

For some reason, my adblocker is stopping me from the site. Could you post a couple?
I love black and white. Your didn’t necessarily have to be a pro to do it well. I have some old family photos, probably from 100 years ago, probably taken with a box camera, and the details and texture are stunning.
>>seemingly practiced by the present residence of the White House
residence????? not residents
That certainly makes me take the article seriously.
I don’t see Trump getting involved at all in anything to do with the library. No win to be gotten from anything to make it worth the trouble.
Post one!!!
I’m willing to bet that some of what is in FRer’s boxes are just about as good as what we’re seeing in DM. I’ll look for something, too.
Not real enough. Where are the dead bodies in the streets?
More I remember the dead alewives on the sidewalk.
On the South side of Chicago...
The baddest part of town...
I miss working in the darkroom developing B&Ws I shot.
When I built the webpage for my grammar school’s 50th anniversary I heard that the alumni who visited our southside Chicago school on 88th and Jeffrey needed a police escort for the bus.
Those are amazing!
There is an official Vivian Maier photography website that is well worth exploring. She had a knack for taking street photos that was unposed and beautiful. Its also interest to see the time period of the 1940s and 50s in NYC.
Nice! I have one of some people getting ready for a horse-drawn sleigh ride. I am at work now, but I will try to find it tomorrow.
Those are some incredible photos...I was in NYC a lot in the early 60’s and many of those pix captured the sheer grittiness of it. There are lot more on the site dedicated to her http://www.vivianmaier.com/ Thanks for that link!
