He NEVER (NEVER) said --->"I"<---he said "you", as in "you could grab..." speaking of how easy the groupies were.
At least he didn't say "you could go around the stage collecting thrown panties" while describing rock stars, so there is that.

You are correct. Trump is not an idiot. He is up to something. Going to be trolling the Old Gray Lady? Something.

But even the shooting comment is out of context: the original quote at a campaign rally was Trump saying that someone else had said he could shoot someone and his supporters would still vote for him.
I can’t find the transcript so I’m paraphrasing, but I remember it started with something like “Did you hear?” “They say I could....” and then he ended the story with “I guess that means I have very loyal supporters” ... “Amazing”.
I wish I could remember which rally that was and get the actual context, he wasn’t boasting that he could shoot somebody, he was saying someone else said that -
Context is everything.
