No, he would be either dead or just brain dead, regardless of his spine conditions.

Just think, boys and girls: fifty years from now, people will still be mooning over the Obamas and the Clintons, insisting they were railroaded.

I guess it depends at what level of the spine the surgery was performed.

I had a three-level cervical fusion several years ago (anterior discectomy) and the result was very successful. I’ve always been a very active guy, so the surgery was great for me. The only thing I couldn’t do after the surgery that I did before the surgery was play golf, as the torque on the cervical spine when swinging would have been a problem.

I’m going on 67 now, and I’m still active, but have necessarily slowed down because of age.

I have a neurosurgeon friend who says, “Most problems in neurosurgery can be avoided by sleeping with your own wife.”
JFK might have benefitted from this.

JFK never played football for Harvard. Teddy did - second string tight end.

The first bullet hit him at the base of his neck and exited through his throat. He should have been able to survive that wound.

I've seen a documentary where a doctor asserted that the first shot would have been fatal alone. I don't remember the reasoning, only the conclusion. Of course, the head shot made the conclusion moot.

“I think that one has been floating around like a turd in a toilet, for decades too.”

“My turds have gravitas. They sink to the bottom.”

NO it was JFK ignoring Secret Service advice to put the bullet-proof bubble on the Presidential limo that got him killed in Dallas - NOT his back brace!

It didn’t hit anything vital. Went through soft tissue. No arteries, organs or spinal cord. The worst damage was to the trachea.
