INDIANAPOLIS -- A Florida woman stalked and left threatening messages for NASCAR driver Tony Stewart and his family for more than a year over anger that he failed to give her an autograph at a race, according to criminal charges filed last week.
Kathi Russell, 68, of Cape Coral, Florida, was taken into custody on Tuesday on felony charges of stalking, terroristic mischief and intimidation for an alleged campaign of harassment against Stewart lasting from March 2016 through October of this year.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case, Russell made hundreds of anonymous calls to Stewart and his mother and sister at all times of the day and night over that period.
In some of the calls, according to the affidavit, nothing was heard on the line. In others, Russell allegedly played an audio clip saying, We Came, we saw, he died a soundbite by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton about former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi followed by maniacal laughter. In others, a clip from the Talking Heads song Psycho Killer would play.
Russell is also accused of placing an anonymous phone call reporting that a plane landing in Fort Worth, Texas, would be transporting narcotics. Investigators determined the plane was occupied by Stewart, and that the call was a false report that came from Russell.

I’m beginning to think the loonies outnumber the rest of our population. Pretty scary - she even looks scary!
Her eyes are waaaay to close together.
L
Well at LEAST she didn’t sexually harass him. #metoo #pinkpussyhatstreettheater
YIKES!
Stewart is responsible for the deaths of 2 people, one of them being a teen girl who he drove into the wall on purpose.
So, in other words...Madame Benghazi is responsible for continuing to incite ongoing violence and mayhem against others!
Me too, I want an autograph or my dog will poop on your lawn. /s
And when I get it, I won’t like it because my dog had to poop on your lawn to get it.
Oh the emotional distress.
So I guess a race car driver, who gets involved in a crash in a race car, during a race who’s high on weed and gets out of his car and runs toward another race car, while high in weed isn’t responsible for what happens to himself?
Tragic situation but Stewart is not at fault.
I’m not a huge Stewart fan so don’t try.
What’s the other one you’re talking about?
Apparently, at the same track, he purposely drove a 19 year old girl into the wall, killing her.
I only heard about it in reference to the high on pot dude.
My facts are fuzzy. The event came and went.
“Pretty scary - she even looks scary!”....
In her case, looks run a lot deeper than skin deep. Crazy? No question!
Given the media microscope on the Kevin Ward tragedy, it would seem that if he were involved with another death, it would be front page news.
I looked it up. It was a crash at the same track that involved many cars. Just a racing deal crash that she ended up with a spinal fracture. Not killed. Her dad was also racing and finished the race. She still races.
Thank you for the clarification; I was going from memory, but my memory includes him saying he hit her/drove her into the wall on purpose.
I do not follow NASCAR, but Stewart seems like a not nice person.
A quick Google search shows that he was responsible for starting a chain reaction wreck that involved 15 vehicles. One of which was driven by a 19-year-old female, who was injured in the wreck, but not killed.
He did not hit her directly, but he admitted responsibility for the wreck.
She ran up the back of another driver at the back of the melee, and flipped up in the air.
Here's a link to the video.
Secondly, before taking the arrest photo, law enforcement should have let hym finish swallowing the bird (or rodent) that is clearly bulging and sqirming in hys throat...
He admitted causing the crash by making a driver error. Very normal when cars are racing. That’s called “one of them racing deals”
Generally, there’s no malice involved. On occasion, a driver who’s involved in a feud with another driver will get payback by damaging the other guys car, but it’s generally done on the smaller, slower tracks. Since Stewart was the star guest driver, it’s unlikely he was feuding with anyone at that track.
In the case of Kevin Ward, the kid got spun out by stewart when their wheels touched. He exited his car and ran toward Stewart who was coming around following the pace car. He ran up to the car and Stewart gunned the gas. (as I understand, because those cars are so short, most steering is done with the gas pedal rather than the steering wheel. Gun it, spin tires and the back end will spin to the right) He was trying not to hit the kid and it didn’t work. Ward was later found to be high on weed, which probably affected his judgement.
Stewart, like most drivers at the highest levels is supremely talented but not generally the nicest of people. One has to go from being businesslike in sponsor meetings, to analytical in race meetings to set up the car, to convivial in public appearances telling the same race stories over and over, to highly aggressive on the track to dig deep and win the races. He’s a 3-time champ.
Watch the last ten minutes of the championship race from last Sunday. Martin Truex Jr., going for his first championship held back Kyle Busch, a phenominal driver and grade A jerk for multiple laps. That’s the perfect example of digging deep.
My facts are fuzzy.
...
That’s the only thing you’ve said right so far.
Take the mentally ill out of circulation-—not the guns.
That does look like a man.
