Fox News Channel host Jeanine Pirro (juh-NEEN' PEER'-oh) has been issued a speeding ticket for driving 119 mph (192 kph) in a 65 mph (105 kph) zone in upstate New York. The Daily News reports the former Westchester County district attorney was stopped by a trooper on Sunday afternoon in Tioga County. A state police spokesman says he doesn't know what type of car Pirro was driving or whether she had any passengers. Pirro says in a statement through Fox News Channel she had been driving for hours to visit her ailing mother and didn't realize how fast she was going. She says she will "pay the consequences." The ticket is returnable Jan. 8.

The trolls on this thread really need to lighten up. Let yourself laugh every once in a while. It’s good for the soul.

Heck - my 4 cylinder Rav4 will probably hit that speed with a long enough stretch - my 6 cylinder Camry was capable of over 140.

Ha! I had the Pontiac version - a 1980 Sunbird. Great little car, and I loved it.

On mine, if I remember correctly, the speedo had a PEG at 85, to keep you from “experimenting”. Believe it or not, at 55 - the nationwide speed limit - the wheel covers on that car made a distinctive hum/whistle. You didn’t have to look at the speedometer to know you were doing the limit.

Worse than that - I had a low-end (6 cylinder) 1985 FIREBIRD with a peg at 85. Always wondered if the Trans Am’s had that peg.....grrrr.

Did not notice may not be a good legal excuse but I believe her. My car is so smooth at high speed, you have no idea you are at 100 mph. Honest.

I travel among a herd of crazies every day on the interstate loop here, and the safest speed is what everyone else is doing. Drive the limit, get killed. Sometimes when I need to speed up to change lanes, I look down and am amazed at where the needle is.

When I drove on the Autobahn in a Mercedes a few years back, I cruised at 100+ mph and it seemed slow................

Virginia is totally nut bag anal about speeding. I hate driving in the state for any length of time. For the record I have never got a speeding ticket there or pulled over. I visit my sister often who lives in the state and have been through their papers please checkpoints and honestly 90% of their troopers are the biggest aholes out there aside from National Park Rangers. Rude, hateful jerk wads. No need to be that way especially with potential tourist dollars. I have been in probably 40 of the 50 states and I really get the feeling of not being welcome in the state.

I know in the county where my sister lives there is a section of interstate that all the locals know about where the troopers set to write tickets. The locals tell her it is common knowledge that before the troopers pull into this area they get out a metal detector and go over it for nails because the locals load it down for payback. She didn’t believe the people that told her and one day she was driving by and sure enough there was a trooper with a metal detector sweeping the area.

I had a 4cyl Chevy Monza. Going downhill, I was able to get it up to 84.

I once owned a 1980 Volkswagon Rabbit Diesel. The only way I could have exceeded 80 MPH was to drive it over a tall cliff.

It was my first car. Got it used in 1985. It was a 1978 model and a V-6 manual transmission.

Wasn't the V-6 version the one with the inverted engine? You had to jack up the engine to replace the spark plugs.

YOU SAID: 119/.5 = 59.5 mph

119 X 0.5 = 59.5 mph If you would have multiplied by 0.5

119/0/.5 = 119/(1/2) =119 x 2 = 238 mph This is your answer.

Hmmm, I don’t remember anything weird about the spark plugs.
It was a fantastic little car. Even I, a mere college girl at the time, could do maintenance on that engine. A week after I got it, it was failing, and my dad knew it was probably just a clogged fuel filter. Sure enough, that’s all it was. Had many happy years with that car. The V-6 was really powerful in that little car.

“Oh my, that’s just wrong. How on earth can you make a 350 V8 only put out 125hp????? ...hopefully it still had loads of torque.”

HP = Torque x RPM

Torque = HP / RPM.

Directly related.

“The V8 was shoehorned in, and in the first run of that model, you couldn’t change at least one of the spark plugs without loosening a motor mount, and jacking the engine.”

Even in the Camaro the V8 was a bear to change.

I took mine to the dealer at 50k and told him to save one to look at.

Gap? The whole side electrode was essentially gone.
