“Be a warrior!” says Oprah Winfrey’s Mrs. Which to Storm Reid’ Meg in the new trailer for Disney’s highly-anticipated adaptation of A Wrinkle In Time. The new look at the Ava DuVernay-directed fantasy pic includes tons of new footage that takes you into an adventurous and visually stunning world created by author Madeleine L’Engle.

The epic adventure based on the timeless classic takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and, ultimately, the triumph of love. Through one girl’s transformative journey led by three celestial guides, we discover that strength comes from embracing one’s individuality and that the best way to triumph over fear is to travel by one’s own light.

As seen in the the new trailer, which premiere tonight during the American Music Awards, the movie also stars Mindy Kaling, Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Peňa, Levi Miller, Deric McCabe, André Holland, Rowan Blanchard, and Zach Galifianakis.

The 2003 television adaptation was pretty bad. Will this one be good?

Time will tell.

Given this is Hollywood, the bad guy will look like Trump.

No desire to see the move or any of these actors. Will stick with the book.

He's being played by Michael Peña.

It's Disney. It has Orca Winfrey in it.

No, thank you.

Well, in that case, they’re being racist, since Peña is Hispanic. /sarc

Who is the gay character. Disney has a requirement for one.

Nah, the description shows that the usual suspects have not a clue about the books. “To thy own self be true” was a line Shakespeare put in the mouth of a fool. Clearly fools are in charge here. I will give my daughter the books and never mention that the adaptions exist.

“Who is the gay character. Disney has a requirement for one.”

Either 10% of the characters must be gay, or all of them must be, 10% of the time...

Does that mean Charles Wallace will be a young, budding rapper who's turning his life around?

I read the books. Megan started out as a White girl with mousy brown hair who eventually developed into a beautiful, young redhead. #NoBlackwashing

I remember reading A Wrinkle In Time in elementary school, but never continued with the quintet as L’Engle wrote them. Not long ago I read the entire quintet with an eye to introducing my grandson to it. I was struck, at least they struck me, that they had a very pointed message in a “Green” way. Maybe it was just me but the messages were beyond a battle between good and evil.

Oprah was outstanding in The Color Purple. I think it was before she was famous, so you could see her as the character.

In this movie, she looks like Oprah in a silly costume acting like a new-age goddess.
