I haven’t opened the bedroom “window with a view” in decades. Too many people these days like to look in. Years ago, when people knew it wasn’t nice to peep and they had sense enough to be in their own homes at night, we could keep it open.

I don't have a curtain in my whole house. I use lower shutters on some. The library is solid windows on the street and backyard walls. For privacy I designed a storage closet that keeps the computers out of view and use huge wooden tri-fold screens set up on either side of a path through the room so that there are no views in except from a shielded backyard. I think the dogs would let me know if we had a night visitor that didn't have four feet.
