Reminds me a bit of controversy, over a song by Dire Straits, in which the word “faggot” is mentioned. As I recall, radio stations nowadays were censoring the offending word, if they even played that song at all.
It’s the same mindset which has caused Disney to embargo their old movie “Song of the South”, because of alleged racial insensitivity based on today’s standards.
Ditto, the decision by a cable network, to not show the old Charlie Chan detective movies, based on the notion that they are bigoted against a Chinese-American, based on today’s liberal standards.
The forces of political correctness are strong. I would not be surprised if “Leave it to Beaver” reruns get banned, due to June Cleaver being so much of a stereotypical housewife, and thus offending the sensibilities of the liberals who push for women’s rights and all that.
Money for Nothing.
Especially the episode where June says, "Ward, you were a little hard on the Beaver last night."

They take out the entire verse:
See the little faggot with the earring and the makeup?
Yeah buddy, that’s his own hair
That little faggot got his own jet airplane
That little faggot, he’s a millionaire
Remember when Ted Turner started to “colorize” old Black and White Movies? The screaming from the Artistic License crowd was deafening.
I gotta go. It’s time to read Little Black Sambo
For an example of how times have changed, see this panel from a Mad Magazine "Star Wars" parody in 1977. This joke would never be made today.
Back in the day, Knopfler recorded separate US and UK versions of the song (the original version used the word "queenie"), so that audiences on both sides of the Atlantic would understand the lyrics with no cultural question marks. I wonder if the UK radio stations still play that tune, uncensored?
Seems like the South Park episode where Allah was removed started a lot of the madness.
Got a dvd of Song of the South from England
