Why the elephant's survival should be important to everyone.
Consider this sobering statistic: In less than a decade, the African elephant may be extinct. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, in a statement Wednesday, argued that the large fees collected from permits to hunt would help fund conservation effortsbut we think there's a better way forward.
Pilar Guzmán, editor in chief of Condé Nast Traveler, sat down with Chelsea Clinton last year to learn more about the Elephants Action Networka conservation group formed by the Clinton Global Initiative in 2013and why the elephant's survival should be important to everyone.
Their mission: stop the demand for, killing of, and trafficking of elephants and their ivory. Some advocate that trophy hunting is one way to stop poaching; Clinton has another approach.

Did the Mammoths need our help to go extinct?
Man, the GOP needs her help too? What a sad state the party has fallen into.
That Hubbell kid is really something special.

“Chelsea, what should we do to save the elephants?”
“Throw them some big life preservers?”
“There you have it folks. Straight from the horse’s as...I mean mouth.”
Chelsea needs a new pair of Manolos baby! Time for Bono and Bill Gates to open up the checkbook...
Other than this being a Clinton, I see nothing wrong with protecting elephants and managing their population.
In several areas they have an increase in population using management that included Trophy hunting. She probably saw the numbers and wants to jump on the band wagon to save the elephants so later they can use those numbers to look good. Another dim scam.
Short Bus special!
She’s like one of those poor, orphaned ducklings that imprint on farm animals due to lacking a mother.
The elephants must be saved ... they are an important market for Hillary’s second hand pants suits.
The fact that she is a Clinton and their track record of actually doing good deeds is pretty thin...may increased skepticism greatly.
She might have better luck saving the Donkeys first.
I like elephants. If she wants to help an elephant, I’m all for it.
Oh my! You mean she is going on a safari to hunt a trophy bull (only past prime bulls are shot legally) and cough up the $40k plus cost will pay for a huge array of conservation efforts. while feeding the local population with critically needed protein? Or is she going to cull a tuskless bull or old dry cow to keep the herd/range ratio in good balance ( again a $15-25K cost), most of which goes to conservation?
Did I mention the associated economic contribution to the host country and local population?
Oh, silly me, she’s gonna complain and whine about those who actually DO conservation and pay for it, while spreading disinformation and smearing campaigns to discredit real conservation efforts.
You don’t often see anyone who out-cankles Cankles.
Exactly. They would never get a dime from me unless they actually formed a human chain, Bill, Hillary, Webb’s daughter between the hunter and the elephant.
Oh never mind she is talking about actual elephants. Hopefully one with step on her and save themselves.
