This whole racial thing just blows my mind. Do these people think that millennial s discovered racial differences and that until 2015 white and black People never met?? It’s so crazy. I had a black boyfriend for years, many years ago. There were weird moments but not very many, frankly. I lived in a 50% African American neighborhood for 15 years recently and my oldest kids grew up there. No big issues, at least none against blacks (only one massacre against whites...) there. With civilized behavior there isn’t enough institutinal white on black racism to make life for a civilized black person anywhere near as hard as for someone with a broken arm, say. And every* recent infamous example of supposed brutality against blacks by police come after a black person was acting extremely uncivilized.

*except the guy shot in N Charleston and the heavy guy selling cigarettes in NYC, true Police brutality cases.

If you are black and you live the way Larry Elder describes, doing well in school, no babies before marriage, no marriage until a good job, you won’t have poverty, you won’t be in a gang infested area, and there won’t be enough racism against you to faze you much. There may be obstacles just as there are for anyone with a difference of any kind (adhd, minority, different religion, deaf parent, child with cancer, etc). I long for the innocent colorblindness of my childhood.

We were too young.

I don’t remember the details of the N. Charlston event but the guy selling loosies was being really difficult and he was huge plus he had a reputation with the local cops. Lots of factors went into that one. It was a tragedy but the loosie seller could have simply been cooperative and avoided all the drama which ended up killing him because the cops were over zealous.

You can't even get the facts straight about these cases.

There was no "police brutality" in the NYC incident at all. No criminal charges were filed in New York, no Federal charges were filed after a U.S. Justice Department investigation (in the Obama administration, mind you), and there weren't even any administrative charges brought by the NYPD>
