Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston told reporters he did not know whether Neal had surrendered the weapons. The shooter illegally manufactured guns he used Tuesday, officials said. Handguns police recovered were not registered to him, Johnston said.
Neal "was not law enforcement friendly" and authorities a number of times had come to his house after complaints that shots were fired from the property, Johnston said.

All the gun-control laws or even outright confiscation still isn't going to stop those who intend on doing harm. No wonder why this story is down the memory hole. He illegally manufactured guns in CA, which is one of the most strictest gun-control states in the country. What does that tell you?
Well, it tells me in some ways he was smarter than the gangsters that have them in spite of the unconstitutional laws against guns since he could make them himself, and in other ways he was not due to gangsters having such weapons in spite of the unconstitutional laws against guns.

I supposed the NRA dropped the ball in making sure he had no guns . ( sarc )I mean there were laws that would have prevented him from having guns I would think . (sarc)Oh there were laws in effect ,, uh oh . What good are these laws if not enforced and followed up on .
Seems criminals get more legal breaks than the average non felon citizen when dealing with the law .

That's all I could come up with. "Made his own" kinda overstates that.
