If Malia were smart, she would arrange with Harvard to have the use of an office for two hours a week, at a regularly scheduled time.

After that, any time anybody bothers her, she could just hand them a business card with the room number and office hours printed on the back, and offer to discuss whatever the person wants to discuss at that time.

Very few people would bother, and she would have an additional couple of quiet hours every week to study.

This way she avoids unwanted attention, but in a way that does not lead to her being accused of being dismissive. It is not unreasonable for her to request that these interactions occur at a time and place convenient to her.
