47 years have past.

The tragedy should never be forgotten in the Huntington Tri State area. Not only was the football team destroyed, by also many civic leaders. The latter however seems to haunt Huntington to his date. The city that once had so much to offer seems to dwell on its sad past rather than looking forward.

Wichita State experienced the same thing a month earlier, but they were unable to sustain the football program and dropped it in 1986.

I remember that day well, the Marshall crash happened right across the river from us. Terrible tragedy.
