According to Hollywood morality, making "racist" remarks is criminal. Being a sexual predator is just bad PR and image.
Christopher Plummer is a great actor with a very wide range (one of my favorite performances by Plummer is as the bank robber and gangster in The Silent Partner). Spacey is only good at playing monotone-speaking sociopaths.
What age was the elder Getty at the time of the kidnapping? Replacing an actor in his late 50's with one in his 80's is quite the switch appearance-wise, unless Spacey was made up to look much older than his actual years.
That's hardly a given. People are all outraged and up in arms about it now, but give it a few weeks and all will be forgotten and forgiven. Look at Roman Polanski - he had sex with a 13 year old, fled the US as a fugitive, and still had a successful career as a film director. Now, had Spacey or Polanski made some politically incorrect racial or ethnic remarks - well, that would be a different story. Then their careers would be over for good.
cue "Takin' Care of Business" and then "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet". Thanks EdnaMode.
Thanks EdnaMode.
General Chang and Kahn were some of the best villains in the original Star Trek movies.
I read something that made me laugh about this. Apparently there are fans out there asking to replace spacey with Kevin James on a petition. Well, he was president in the movie Pixels ;)
The movie is about John Paul Getty, a billionaire who was reluctant to pay his grandson’s ransom after his kidnapping. Sounds like real sleazebag, so Spacey was a great choice for the role.
The movie is finished, Ridley Scott by his own choice is re-shooting all the scenes with Spacey at what is likely tremendous expense. Afraid no one would go to see it if Spacey was in it I guess, still seems silly to me, the film is finished.
Christopher Plummer? I say Go all in.. Go with this guy:

“Sir, your grandson has been kidnapped!”
“Haha, what a story, Mark.”
I would pay to see that.
BTW, the James Franco movie about the making of The Room is supposedly excellent.

I saw a trailer. Franco BECOMES this guy ala Rob Lowe becoming Drew Peterson.
Love it! I may have to go see it,
