What was his vote % like compared to Trump’s 2016 ?
Might not have mattered if Trump campaigned for him ?

It isnt hard. Trump wrote the playbook. Just follow it.

But the GOP voter doesn’t seem to understand this thing called a primary.

Dont complain about this guy when you could not be bothered to show up for the primaries and pick someone better.

If your conservative delegate lost, whose fault is that? If you didn’t show up to vote, or didn’t “feel motivated”, then too damn bad.

No one cares if you were too lazy to go vote. The policies of the Democrats aren’t going to affect you any less.

The Republican party has got to accept that reality that there is no middle.

We have either Patriots seeking a return to the ideals of our fathers and to the rule of the Constitution (represented by President Trump) or anti-American liberals.

Choosing the mushy middle between those two is the same as walking down the middle of a two lane highway. SPLAT!

The time has arrived for all Republicans to choose what side they are really on. We are in a life and death struggle for the soul and the survival of our country. They can either Make America Great Again, or they can be counted among America’s enemies.

It is sad that we’ve come to this, but if the GOP establishment had grown some balls and stayed the Constitutional course after President Reagan we’d still be in good shape. Through inaction they allowed the decay of morals and patriotism in this country. And that is how we ended up with obama.

I agree with your premise, but in Virginia:

1) The outgoing governor was a Democrat
2) Virginia went for sHrillary
3) Northern Virginia, densely populated with DC government workers, outweighs the rest of the state in voting.

Therefore, Gillespie's loss isn't the referendum on Trump or Trumpism that some on the left want to make it out to be.

The GOPe will remain in denial and continue to claim, as do the Dems, that Gillespie lost because the voters rejected Trump.

VA has turned blue because the populace has been infested by DC government bureaucrats. It will likely remain blue for quite a long time.

Gillespie got his head handed to him. 9%? No way most of us here and elsewhere anticipated that margin of defeat. And down ticket? When voters prefer a he/she who “slicked” himself to a Republican? All is lost...

Valid points. The problem is, what will be left of the Commonwealth of Virginia by the next election?

The “Principled Conservative Purists” are preening themselves this morning, smug in their self-righteousness.

The RINOS and other members of the DC Uni-Party are popping champagne corks, celebrating the retention of control of Virginia.

Those of us who rejected the DC Uni-Party, but tried to settle for “half a loaf”, need to regroup and understand that the decisive battle will be in the next primary. To get there, we have to march through the GOPe, as part of the DC Uni-Party.

It is time for a second party. The GOP is just a subset of the DC Establishment. It has used us for the last time.

That being said, the “Principled Conservative Purists” are not our friends, either. They, like John McCain, value their role as a disruptor and block more than as a solution.

I would suggest that both RINOs, Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan get their act and caucuses together and, get the tax cut/reform bill passed quickly and on the POTUS’s Trump desk for immediate signing.

The hogwash blabber from the likes of failed deadbeats, McCain, Corker, Flake, etc. has got to stop. McConnell put these deadbeat losers down..or resign and let someone else with a real backbone get the job done!!!

Anyone associated with the Virginia GOP needs to be gone, like today.

OK.

Over the past decade Virginia has been invaded by illegals. The changing demographic of the state is undeniable. The same is happening to Florida as Orlando becomes a suburb of Puerto Rico. I hate to be a pessimist, but I am. As we were electing feckless members of the GOPe club they have been actively implementation a plan that makes Obama's promise of a fundamental change look like child's play. Our choice is either to acquiesce or fight and since I can't think of more than a handful of folks who take what's happening seriously, I think we'll slowly slip away into the dust bin of history.

Good commentary in this thread.

I’m on the side of primary involvement and the lack there of.

We have John McCain because Arizona Republicans didn’t get out the vote for his primary challengers.

Doesn’t matter to the RINOS as they’d much rather have a Democrat win than someone pro-Trump. We basically have to take down the whole establishment here.

He inspired nobody. I voted for him, but did not send him any money as I did other candidates. Unfortunately, all the Republicans who refused to go out into the rain and cold to support a squishy RINO hurt the down ticket candidates, potentially costing the Republicans the State House.

Good vanity post senor Grayfox. We win some we lose some. Mostly we have been winning but VA is part of the leftist DC world. We can hope for hearts and minds in that area to wake up and even work to make it happen but in the end the better message wins.

I worry about coming generations that have been brain washed and indoctrinated by both the education/indoctrination system and their peers. Millennial’s seem to be comfortable with the gender confused Sodom and Gomorrah culture the left is pushing and breeding. That kind of culture will eventually implode leaving a ruined society which I think most of us Freepers know is the Marxist long term goal.

Keep up the good fight FRiend. ;)

INfO to ponder: We won a special congressional seat election by a landslide in Utah, last night, the seat that was vacated recently by Jason Chaffeetz. we also hve a special Senate election coming up on December 12, 2017 in the state of Alabama.

At the moment, Judge Roy Moore has a massive lead of aboptu eighteen points over his Democrat rival. I am fairly certain the POTUS, Trump will head to Alabama where he personally support and endorse Judge More for that seat.

So....in the big picture we have won five straight Congress elections and Judge Moore will be the sixth, victory, hopefully.. Democrats = Zero “Congress” Wins!!!

Bottom Line Impact” The two elections in NJ & VA were “nice” wins for the Democrats...but...no surprise....Trump still rules the roost. Had Gillespie been able to win, he would have devastated the entire Democrat party. Too bad he listened to, and followed the badly flawed leadership advice and council, of deadbeat, failures, Mitch McConnell and G W Bush!!!
