LiAngelo Ball was one of three UCLA players who were arrested in China for shoplifting, Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com reports.
Along with Ball, fellow freshmen Cody Riley and Jalen Hill were also arrested, according to Goodman.
The Bruins are in China for their season opener against Georgia Tech, which will be played Friday in Shanghai.

NHL?
The "families"? These bums don't come from families, in the traditionally understood sense.
Ooops,got hockey on my mind.:-)
NFL .
They should be kicked off the team, and adios free ride, on the other hand they all just made themselves that much more attractive to the NBA.
“Nigglybears gonna niggle.”
You have to be a Tommy Fan!!
LiAngelo, La Var, Lonzo—sounds Italian.
Guarantee trump does nothing except to say play stupid games winstupid prizes.
College game in. China?
Aren’t they just pro teams with an educational front?
Would suite me just fine if the Chinese shot them.
Not going to happen - but a man can hope...
Good news! I think both the NFL and NBA need to quickly schedule a series of games in China or Singapore - say one game for each team. I’m sure none of those players will commit any crimes while there.
“Why is the NCAA holding games in China?”
The NCAA doesn’t hold games in China, two educational institutions do. For the same reason all schools do something like this . . . to market their schools to potential students who might pay the full fare.
UCLA and Georgia Tech likely have a lot of Asian students and recruit heavily in China. Many schools are encouraging their students to spend a semester abroad as part of their curriculum (my college was just voted by Princeton Review as having the #1 Student Abroad program in the country for the past school year . . . I have no idea how that ranking occurs) and it’s likely that there are plenty of students over there right now.
Sometimes the game is also a Thank You to a big donor. We had that when we held the Hobart-Cornell lacrosse game in West Palm Beach a couple of years ago, to make it easy for a big donor who lives here to see the team play while he is having health issues.
On top of all this China is pretty much basketball crazy right now and it likely is chipping in the cost of the trip in some fashion.
All that said, I’d love to be a fly on the wall of the Ball household tonight . . .
I am, I am!!!
Love me some Tommy.
I was hoping somebody would recognize.
:)
Spent several years in Asia. You want to see some REAL racism toward blacks? Yeah.
Even as a round eye there though - it’s my favorite part of the planet in many ways.
Perhaps the perps could claim that they learned that it was "okay" from their fellow [Chinese] students at school?
Fer sur, the ain’t gunna fit in Chinese prison beds.
“Just wait until they dick around with drugs and see what happens.”
Jacky Chan’s (Yes that Jacky Chan) son went to prison for two or three years for minor possession charges in Beijing several years ago. There was nothing that the famous actor could do to prevent it.
I don’t think the Dindu card will work there.
LOL
“Why is the NCAA holding games in China?”
To promote better understanding and friendship between the the American and Chinese people.
I’ve seen this several times when I was in the navy. Sailors on liberty overseas get to acting like they did on the streets back in the states and end up with multiple contusions and broken bones, courtesy of the local constabulary.
