Catalonia ex-officials surrender to Belgian police

Catalonia's deposed president Carles Puigdemont and four former advisors have turned themselves in to Belgian police, says a prosecutors spokesman.

He said an investigating judge would decide by Monday morning whether to execute an EU arrest warrant issued by a Spanish judge on Friday......

Nigel Farage suggested on the radio the other day that prison might be the best place for Catalonia's ousted president, Carles Puigdemont, to make his case for independence.

Today Puigdemont and other officials wanted by Spain turned themselves in to Belgian police.

They tried to exercise their right to choose independence and were crushed by the Spanish central government.

The referendum should have been allowed, but it was crushed.

The Catalan government wanted to negotiate independence after the vote, but the Spanish government decided to invoke the constitution and remove the local government.

They decided to arrest people as traitors and throw them in jail.
