Repeat feat? Astros among contenders in '18
MLB.com ^ | November 3, 2017 | Doug Miller

As soon as the Astros closed out a stirring seven-game World Series by bringing home the first title in franchise history, the questions began.

Can they do it again next year and become the first repeat World Series winner since the Yankees did it in 1999 and 2000? And what about those Yanks, by the way? Will they be good enough next season to beat this Astros team, which eliminated them in the American League Championship Series? And what about those oh-so-close Dodgers? Will they get it done in 2018?

In these 7 games series, bats going cold or pitchers having bad days can ruin 162 games worth of excellence. But the Astros should be favored in the AL - tons of talent and most of it young. These guys are going to be contending for a while.

The same was said last year with my Cubs. There is a lot of really talented young teams right now and it takes a lot to go your way all season and through three post season series. Health and luck are key ingredients. They could do it again next year, though, and all but sure to again at least once more over the next few years. The Dodgers, Yankees, Nationals, Red Sox, Cubs, Indians and others will also be in good shape over the next couple years, too. Baseball is in a good place.

Partner, the 2017 Baseball World Series was the best W.S. I have ever seen.

The Houston Astros Baseball Team has a lot of young talent and with Justin Verlander now on the pitching roster they will even be greater next year.

I think that the Owner Jim Crane will have to pay Correa, Springer, Altuve a lot more than what he has been paying them.

It has been full partying in H-town for the past 2 days.

Astros and Dodgers really have everyone back. Yankees and Indians just a couple holes.

Cubs are probably losing key pieces; Arietta, Lackey, Jason Heyward, John Jay, Wade Davis, Brian Duensing. A lot of business to do.
