And the Professor made a rudimentary radio out of coconuts. Actually, the professor made a rudimentary battery charger using coconuts, saltwater and metal strips to charge the dead batteries for the radio they had brought with them.

I don’t believe them either, but, when we cut the lines and head out, we plan on taking 8 to 12 months worth of food with us (our boat has LOTS of storage) and have a water maker so we can have water.
We’re not planning on being at sea for that long without touching land, but, prices food food in other countries do tend to be higher than here.
We’ll also have e-prbs, sat phone (and maybe internet), and an SSB radio. And we know how to sail.
