While I was driving to work this week and a local syndicated host was discussing a “top favorites” candy list compiled by some firm, something like 5 of the top 10 were resse’s peanut butter products (full size, bite size/minis, pieces, some other type of filled pieces, etc.).

I recalled something homemade that used to be brought to school (I think called haystacks). May have been a peanut butter ball covered by a mound of chow mein noodles (the La Choy type) and then coated by something other than chocolate (may have been caramel). Had crunch, sugar, salt, etc.

I make, what I call, birds’ nests. I put the chow mein noodles in the melted chocolate and scoop them out and let them cool. They are wonderful and so easy to make! Sometimes I put mini marshmallows in them too.
