As the dad of a kid who had terrible colic when we lived in an apartment, I sure am glad nobody called the cops on me.

We had twins.
One of them was always awake. They seemed to take shifts sleeping.
The first year of their lives was an unholy terror that seemed to last five years. It wore us to a frazzle.

My folks would come visit and keep the boys for a weekend every two months.
They would stay at our place with the boys and we would get a motel room and sleep the entire weekend.
That is the only way we all made it through their first year.

Thankfully our downstairs neighbor was a widower, retired army non com who didn’t let anything faze him. A really good guy.

One of our daughters had colic and couldn't make it through the night without waking up screaming for the first two and a half years of her life. Our pediatrician suggested we take her to a specialist in cranial massage, basically realigning the still unfixed plates of the skull. The very next morning after the treatment we woke up to see our daughter standing and smiling at us from the foot of our bed.

I don't know whether there are practitioners in the USA. We were living in Belgium at the time and, being in an apartment building, our neighbors weren't shy about complaining over the noise. But it was a revelation that something like that could be done.
