Florida resident forced to remove Trump sign, woman says

LAKE COUNTY, Fla.—A Lake County, Florida, woman said she was forced to take down a 14-foot sign supporting President Donald Trump that was on her property, off Hancock Road.

County ordinance states any sign that has been up more than 90 days must be removed.

“I may be 72 years old, but I’m not too old to create problems,” Elaine Simmion said. "The sign had been up since the election. ‘Proud to be an American and toot for Trump?’ Yes, we got toots."

The sign had already been up for almost a year, but last month, Simmion decided to make some changes.

"I read somewhere where a coach had 8-year-olds kneel for the national anthem,” Simmion told WFTV.

Simmion added to the sign, "We stand for the national anthem," and she said that’s when the problems started.

Simmion said that shortly after she received the letter from the county to take the sign down, it was vandalized.

Simmions said she believes the message about the national anthem was the reason she was forced to take it down.

Social media got wind of the sign removal, and a group wants to change the county ordinance.

I would put a “The only good Commie is a dead Commie” Bumper Sticker on my Car, but every Democrat who saw it would think I was talking about them.

They are already upset because I have “trump 45” Vanity Plates on my Car. Don’t want to put them over the edge.

My coffee mug at work:

A great source of entertainment for me, as it has revealed a lot of "true colors" I didn't know before in several co-workers.

County ordinance states any sign that has been up more than 90 days must be removed.

**************

Put some hinges on it, remove at 90 days and
reinstall a day later and start the 90 days over.
Or make a couple of different signs and swap
out every 90 days.

“Toot for Trump”?

Kind of tough on the underware!

There was a case where a farmer was told to take down a shelter he had in his pasture for his horses, so without having to get back in the barn the horses could get out of the hot son or a rainstorm.

The county said it was “unsightly” and told him to take it down. After hearings and arguments about the issue and continue demands he take it down, he asked if anything he could do would be “unsightly”. Somehow the idea that “art” would be O.K. was offered.

He went home and within not too many days he built something like a twelve foot high, thirty foot long, fifteen feet wide replica of a picnic table and benches (he put water troughs in the benches) and set it out in his pasture.

That was actually the end of it.

She should take it down every 90 days, then put it up again.

Why would anyone WANT a 14 foot sign on their property?

“Why would anyone WANT a 14 foot sign on their property?”

Does it matter? It’s HIS property. Remember, it’s the Bill of Rights, not the Bill of Needs.

Of course it doesn’t matter-——it’s just odd.

If they painted the house purple with pink polka dots I’d feel the same way.
