Michael Musto: “I Was Royally Screwed By Michael Moore’s Broadway Show”
New Now Next ^ | October 23, 2017 | Michael Musto

I’ve always appreciated Michael Moore, who’s been informed and angry about all the right things. I’ve long praised him, and vice versa. When I first met him in the ‘90s, Moore gushed, “Wow! You’re at a party for me!” At another event some time later, Moore told me, “I wish I could write your column. It’s so funny.” In 2015, I interviewed him at a promotional bash in his apartment and we still got along famously.

Knowing he was coming to Broadway this past July, I requested an interview. The person from the publicity firm was excited and happy to make it happen. They never got back to me. Fine, I got glossed over. But then, someone from the show’s producing team contacted me to say they wanted me as a guest star one night. I was beside myself! It was a hell of an invitation, and my Broadway debut. (I’ve only done talkbacks and also was the guest star for Oh, Hello when it was off-Broadway). I was alternately on a walker and in a wheelchair at the time, recuperating from surgery after a horrible injury, but I got all pumped about the opportunity and excitedly told friends as I readied my recovering leg.

The day of my appearance, I got a confirmation for the car pickup, but later that same day, the guy who’d booked me texted that I was bumped. The show was running too long, he said. People were streaming out in disastrous fashion. The producers wanted the evening down to 90 minutes and it was going way well over two hours. They were playing around with the format by adding and subtracting things, and I was being subtracted that night.

Sounds like good luck that wasn’t recognized at first glance.

If you’re ignorant to want to run with Michael Moore, I can’t feel sorry for you when he leaves you hanging. I’d rather hang with a random manager from Target than Michael Moore, the odds are a lot better of having an alright night.

Mr. Musto considers himself a big deal, and doesn’t like being disinvited from Mike’s Broadway show. This article is his ‘Portrait of a Disappointment’.
I think that show “Terms of Surrender” closed yesterday.
I can’t find any confirmation.

This lays bare the ego-focused posturing that drives these media whores. It’s all about who gets invited to whose party. They’re worse than junior high girls planning a sleepover.

In this case, frog, meet scorpion.

Nice to note their general lack of morals or ethics.

Who would have thought it?

Good Gawd, screw you! That's all of that I could take.

I’m embarrassed for the author. I feel sorry for him. He sounds like a pathetic puppy dog who doesn’t get attention from his master and laments about being treated like a dog. It’s made worse by the object of his amorous affection is a rich, radical, slovenly communist that hates America and all good things about it.

Sit, Ooboo. Sit! Stay! Good boy.

What kind of a person idolizes Micheal Moore?

Someone who is frightened of Beta males? Chronic bed wetters? Slow-witted children?

What’d he do? He let Moore beat him to the after-show’s cold collation?

And it looks like he couldn't care less.

No idea. The only actor I ever met was Harrison Ford because I worked for a company in the 1980s for a short time that delivered construction materials to his house. I never saw what the big deal was. Just because you like somebody’s work, that doesn’t make them some kind of great person or even a mediocre person or even somebody likable. If you idolize somebody, you’re better off not meeting them and saving yourself the disappointment.
