That is indeed becoming the case. Hold the door for an older black lady, and you’re being condescending (that what a relative of mine was called). Don’t hold the door, and you’re being rude, and racist.

How about the cure being they go back home and avoid the cumbersome "American" part of their racial designation? From that point on, they can just be simple "African."
