CHICAGO (AP) Enrique Hernandez put a Hollywood ending on an LA story three decades in the making.
Fueled by Hernandez's home run trilogy, Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers are finally going to the World Series.
Hernandez homered three times and drove in seven runs, Kershaw breezed through six crisp innings and Los Angeles ended the Chicago Cubs' title defense with an 11-1 victory in Game 5 of the NL Championship Series on Thursday night.

According to a local TV news report, the Dodger season ticket holder could buy the WS ticket for as low as $166...
I saw my first professional baseball game at the LA collision in 1959 sitting so far down the first base line that we were behind the right field fence. Don’t know how much Dad paid for tickets but I’m sure we got our money’s worth.
Hey Rahm........Go Cubs Goooooooooowhoa
As a Rays fan, I feel bad for the former Rays like Maddon and Zobrist, but Yankees-Dodgers should make for a Series for the ages.
You mean the Coliseum? I have a memory of the Dodgers with my Dad there, from outside the fence, looking in.
Los Doyers treated the Cubs like a fur hunter treats a baby seal.
As a Cubs fan, I find it a pleasure to hear about how the Cubs simply got beat by a better team, instead of about black cats and billy goats.
Yankees in 5.
NYY have most potent offense in baseball and there pitching is first rate with their bullpen second to none.
That said, the NYY still have to beat Houston.
Same here! Have to hand it to the Dodgers. Their offense is second to none and their pitching is incredible. Their pitching came a long way since last year. Kershaw is undoubtedly a hall of famer on his first vote and Maeda who was lit up like a Christmas tree by the Cubs last year was outstanding in his own right.
As horrible as it was to watch the Cubs go down last night, I really wished the Dodgers would've left Kershaw in to finish the game. IMO he deserved it. Pitch count be damn'ed, Kershaw put on one of the best pitching performances I've ever seen. The Dodgers should've let him finish.
As far as I'm concerned, I hope it's a Dodgers vs. Yankees World Series and the Dodgers sweep 'em. Houston's blowpen would just get lit up like Michigan Ave. around Christmas time and that series wouldn't even be interesting.
ROFL! Dodgers in a sweep. (Yeah, I know that's an outrageous prediction, so is Yankees in 5 though. We'll be lucky if a Dodgers v. Yankees series goes all 7 -- that'd be some great baseball!)
My dad took me to a double header at the colusium in 1958, Dodgers played the Braves. While my dad was in line to get tickets someone walked up to me and gave me 2 ticket. Had a seasons ticket holders tickets that could not make the game. A young LH’er named Koufax pitched one of the games. Been a Dodger fan ever since.
In a short series it is about momentum and something not readily defineable, call it destiny.the Yankees have no business being here (according to the experts) and are playing relaxed with the knowledge their season has already been a monstrous success.
They came back from 0-2 deficits in both post season series and in their minds and hearts they are certain they will prevail as a former athlete I can tell you that confidence is 90% of the game, given you have the talent to begin with.
However as I said they still have to be Houston.
Now that the Dodgers are over their late-season funk, their hitting lineup is so phenomenal that one mistake by the opposing pitcher will do any Dodger opponents in.
My mom was born and raised in Brooklyn so when I was growing up in CT back in the late 50’s, early 60’s, I was definitely a Dodger fan. Fast forward to this morning on the 405 South driving to work in Santa Ana, I loved listening to K-EARTH 101 as they were celebrating last night’s win playing “I Love LA” and other great songs. No politics or controversy, just having fun and showing hometown pride for the Dodgers. Nice. What sports is supposed to be about.
Are you referring to the left field screen? Sat there at a Milwaukee Braves game. A Dodgers fan heckled Frank Torre (Joe’s older brother) for several innings before Torre lined a Johnny Podres pitch off the screen that would have hit the heckler if the screen hadn’t been there and shut him up.
