In almost all instances actors portraying real life people look better (often much better) than their counterparts. Sometimes it is shocking to check what real life people look like after watching the actors portray them.
However there is one instance I can think of where the actor portraying a real life person was actually uglier than the person he was portraying. That would be in the movie "The Fifth Estate" about Julian Assange and Wikileaks. And who portrayed Julian Assange? Benedict Cumberbatch who looks weird and frightening. I know that Assange hated that movie. I wonder if part of the reason is that Cumberbatch has a strange face?
Marilyn Monroe was probably better looking than Ashley Judd or Mira Sorvino (or both of them put together?).
And you'd have to say FDR edges out Bill Murray in the looks department.
Where are the Snowdens of yesteryear?
Godess
Yes it was.
Columbus and Depardieu? Hemingway and Stacy Keach?
Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly in the biopic Grace of Monaco (2014). Not curvy enough.
Had to look up non-rhotic. After reading two definitions, I still don’t know what it means.
Modern pronunciation. In most non-rhotic accents, if a word ending in written “r” is followed immediately by a word beginning with a vowel, the /r/ is pronouncedas in water ice. This phenomenon is referred to as “linking R”.
relating to or denoting a dialect of English in which r is pronounced in prevocalic position only, common in eastern New England, New York City, and Britain.
Okay, looked on youtube to hear.

Yes, they do. And they both gave tremendous performances.
Non-rhotic means you drop or soften Rs.

Patton was raised in SoCal but his family were Virginians. Patton softens his terminal Rs in the same fashion, listen to how he says “here”.

Steve Buscemi plays Nikita Kruschev in Death of Stalin (2017).

Kruschev was a potato head but I think Buscemi beats him in the ugly department.
Thanks for the clip. Too bad Gen. Patton got in that accident.
My mother grew up for quite some time in Maine and she could talk like that when she wanted. Another fillip of some New England accents is they drop final “r” but add it to words that don’t have one.
I was quite old before I realized “spatula” wasn’t pronounced “spatuler”.
Every movie with Meryl Streep.
Since you brought up Grace Kelly....imagine HER as Helen of Troy..... Now THERE was a face that could launch 1,000 ships.
Mediocrity is everywhere - I absolve you!
You dated Princess Irulan?
Thank you.
I, like you, was horribly offended that they put Martin Sheen up in the role of Robert E Lee. No resemblance facially, exponentially less resemblance as a person.
To me, that was akin to when they put virulently pro-Palestinian Vanessa Redgrave in to play a Holocaust victim.
I didn’t initially recognize Murry in the FDR movie - I thought he did a good job in the role.
I’m surprised Lohan is still alive - she also tried to do a Marilyn photo shoot, with about equal success as the picture of her as Liz.
