The normal Irish (of the time) merely wanted home rule, which they were getting as soon as the First World War came to an end—but the communists pushed for full independence, and ended up prolonging the war with their stupid 1916 rebellion, basically siding with the Axis by doing that.

Vast majority of Irish forget that they had full representation in the Westminster parliament. Irish politicians had power to direct the course of the British Empire. Sadly, their ideology led it into the proverbial “dustbin of history”, along with English, Scottish and Welsh politicians who were sympathetic to that left-wing garbage.

And the “Republic” of Ireland has not been independent since 1972; the Third Amendment to Ireland’s constitution puts European Union law supreme above Irish law.

You mean the Central Powers. The Axis was World War II.

Ain't it funny how Commies can never make up their minds as to whether they're for national sovereignty or against it?
