I ain’t had no lovin’ since January, February, June or July
Snowtime ain’t no time to stay outdoors and spoon,
So shine on, shine on harvest moon - for me and my gal !”

The “wobble” theory comes in because the displayed “face” moves back and forth between these two positions on the hour - this would not be expected with the trajectory you refer to.

But it doesn't move back and forth during the night. The wobble comes from the moon having an elliptical orbit but a constant rotation speed so the dead center spot on the moon changes along with an orbit tilted 5 degrees from the ecliptic. But that is noticeable over days not hours.

And picture 24 looks photoshopped unless it was taken far north during the summer. Otherwise it is too upright to be on the horizon.

The harvest moon is a beauty tonight. SO bright!

The guy who rents our fields to plant is taking advantage of it. He and his crew are STILL in our fields, taking in the corn. I'm paying for it with runny nose and watering eyes from the dust they're kicking up but I just stepped out to snap this pic of the moon.

You’re welcome.

Just glad it’s a clear night so I could get a pic. Too often where there’s something cool going on in the skies, we get socked in by clouds. Got lucky tonight!

Big and beautiful in a totally clear sky here in Southern Cal, about 30 miles NW of LA. Reminds me of one of my very favorite songs, Neil Young “Harvest Moon”. Simple, gorgeous melody, so sentimental... loving the Harvest Moon tonight
