Got it on vinyl. ;^)
Never heard of them. I'm so out of touch.
I hear 'ya - I'm still listening to Hendrix (is there anything else?)
We look around in wonder

Touched by his loving Son.
I vaguely remember seeing somewhere that Mike Pinder was a preacher's son. Couldn't say if it's true or not.
They do stand apart, IMO.
Kind of a travesty that The Zombies arent already in there too.
THIS! Talk about an under appreciated group of musicians! Beyond their 3 big hits (She’s Not There, Tell Her No, and Time of the Season) are dozens of wonderful pop/rock performances. Colin Blunstone’s breathy vocals are among the best in the genre. Three composers in the group. Odessey and Oracle is pure genius (minus A Butcher’s Tale - too depressing).
To the uninitiated listen to this cut from O&O. Turn it up a bit. Psychedelic dream world quality and lyrics (the group did NOT use drugs)

And Tom Petty (RIP) wrote the glowing liner note introduction for their 5 disc box set.
Funny is I’m more familiar with Colin Blunstone because of The Alan Parsons Project.
No argument from me on the quality of some of Mick and Keef’s poetry. :)
I also take heart that there are a few current bands in the Indy-Rock scene that are also astoundingly good. A few that immediately come to mind are The Decemberists, Death Cab For Cutie, Midlake, Arcade Fire, Okkervil River and Shearwater, to name but a few.
With regards to country and southern rock, I adore the Drive By Truckers.
I have the “DRY” version of their “Hits” album from a friend who remastered it and burned direct from the master tapes.
The sound quality is quite good without the dreaded reverb added for the commercial release.
The track “Don’t Throw Your Love Away” is very, very good with the vocal being “right there” and very close to hearing the master tape.
just realized I still have all those original vinyls..:)
Do ya need the 8tracks? Call me.
Thanks for that, dweller.
GenX mockers just have no appreciation...
Well that sucks for Laine, he can’t catch a break either way I guess.
FINALLY! Well deserved. I’ve seen the Moodies in concert here in St. Louis maybe five years ago, and I saw Justin Hayward, the leader of the group, in a solo concert here three years ago. Terrific!
LOVE ALL OF THEIR ALBUMS, Like PINK FLOYD but the Morons became Political..
First they have to explain the name, since they were neither moody nor blue.
Art Bell, Coast to Coast and The Moody Blues for bumper music. Quite a combo.
