I was in Bari a few years ago. Lots of pilgrims coming from as far away as Poland or Russia to visit the tomb of St. Nicholas. So what if they were going to the wrong place?

I doubt DNA testing of the bones will do anything to resolve the identity of the person buried in the basilica in Bari.

Maybe they found the tomb, but how do they know the BODY is that of St Nick? Was it the remains of a right jolly old elf?

If archaeologists were to find the tomb of St. Nicholas, it would not be the first time in recent months that experts have dug into ruins with a Biblical connection.

They do know St. Nicholas isn't in the Bible, right?
