LOL. Nope, didn't say he gets credit for making a bad movie. I said he gets a little credit for doing something other than crank out an origin story for the 20th most popular hero in the Marvel universe, or something to that effect. Ultimately, I'd have to see it before trashing it completely.

He's making a cult film. I don't think he expected much box office success.

I think that's EXACTLY what he intended. In fact, if you can actually stomach it, it may require multiple viewings of mother! to actually get the gist of the film.

Not every film needs to be the "feel-good movie of the summer." Some of us enjoy dark and disturbing.
