If you read the following post, I admitted that I should have used the sarcasm tag but didn’t think it was necessary. No one would ever think of duct taping a broom to a kids hands.
I suggested that you look at post 42. Since you are apparently unwilling to do so, here it is
If you can point out exactly where in my original comment I said anything about my friend ridiculing the child I will back off.
I said he told me the story. I never said he ridiculed the kid. He patiently taught the young whippersnapper how to wield a broom.
Thats how we both roll
Apparently in your world were not allowed to tell funny stories of things that happened years before either.
I think theres a high horse you need to step down from.
Who made fun of him? When and where?
“Parents today cant even teach their kids how to sweep a floor or use the washing machine.”
Nonsense,some do.
.
Assuming the worst?
I’m not assuming anything I’m going with the story of a youth group leader publicly making judgmental statements about a child entrusted to him by the kid’s parents.
Teach the kid how to sweep and shut up about it
How would you feel as a kid overhearing the youth group leader telling someone this story about you and your mother?
No high horse. I know in some places people think it’s fine to entrust the care of their kids to people who will begrudgingly take care of them and then turn around and make judgemental comments.
People like me when they stick up for the child must put up with a lot of guilt ridden nasty backlash but hopefully someone reading this senseless defense of a hypocritical youth group leader might think twice about what generosity is versus self congratulatory smugness.
Because kids KNOW. They know who wants to help them and who doesn’t.
But youth groups have very bad reputations in some circles of kids over sanctimoniousness and hypocrisy kids are not as stupid as some people like to treat them as being
You still have no idea what you are speaking of. You read deeply into a funny story that I relayed that a friend told me several years after the fact about someone I didn’t even know. You jumped up and got all upset and turned it into a travesty.
I was once mentioning an old tradition that is no longer done about having kids sing a song to retrieve a lost and found item. Someone walking by who I didn’t know jumped up and accused me of child abuse. That’s about the level of the accusations you have posted. With absolutely no knowledge of the entire context, nor knowledge of the actors involved, you jumped up and self righteously accused him of essentially abusing a child. You owe me an apology.
I was raised in a politically incorrect world where there was a sense of humor and many de facto youth leaders. The ones who came by it honestly were youth leaders chosen by the youth naturally by their generosity and talent for teaching. They criticized, disciplined and taught. They allowed kids to fight and stick up for themselves.
Never would they talk about us behind our backs about anything we had no fault about
Not ever would they criticize our parents for not having taught us something especially such a non issue as a ten year old not knowing how to do a particular chore. Or we would have rejected them.
Kids are particularly politically incorrect.
OMG!!!! Thank God nobody published this in a major publication. Implosions of heads during drive time might have caused massive pile-ups and deaths of innocent non-leftist-triggered-bumps.
This is an unsafe article. They HAVE to find a way to tone it down, or there will be leftists filling our emergency rooms and headless ones filling our morgues.
You are sadly mistaken about me. I’ve tried to explain but I]m afraid this conversation is over.
I’m glad it’s over
Some, but they are increasingly in the minority.
“In a given bad situation, if the assumption about its cause is either malevolence or incompetence, the safe bet is incompetence. However, rarely is such incompetence found without a deep underpinning of malevolence.”
That is, if the bad guys are either mean or just stupid, assume stupidity. But rarely is such stupidity found without considerable meanness within it.
In fact, insistent, resilient stupidity, like socialism, is uncommon without a deep and abiding undercurrent of meanness supporting it.
