BOTTOM LINE: The Holy ALMIGHTY GOD cannot not tolerate sin.
LEVITICUS 18:20-28
20 “Do not defile yourself by having sexual intercourse with your neighbor’s wife.
21 “Do not permit any of your children to be offered as a sacrifice to Molech, for you must not bring shame on the name of your God. I am the Lord.
22 “Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin.
23 “A man must not defile himself by having sex with an animal. And a woman must not offer herself to a male animal to have intercourse with it. This is a perverse act.
24 “Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, for the people I am driving out before you have defiled themselves in all these ways. 25 Because the entire land has become defiled, I am punishing the people who live there. I will cause the land to vomit them out. 26 You must obey all my decrees and regulations. You must not commit any of these detestable sins. This applies both to native-born Israelites and to the foreigners living among you.
27 “All these detestable activities are practiced by the people of the land where I am taking you, and this is how the land has become defiled. 28 So do not defile the land and give it a reason to vomit you out, as it will vomit out the people who live there now.
All pretty smart rules.
But I do not understand why the Almighty would destroy a city in a country that is pretty heavily skewed to the Christian side of the street.
If he is doing this because “man has sinned”, I would ask you why the Almighty Lord would not smite Las Vegas? My guess is there is more sinning per capita in Vegas than MC.
And...lets not forget, Mexico is full of volcanoes and fault zones.
What is pretty easily explained by geology sounds more dramatic if you toss in a God who lets hundreds of thousands die every month from disease, hunger, and war.
I tend to go with the more obvious answer.
But I also agree, those rules are good to live by. It keeps you from getting shot by someone else’s husband. And the gay thing is a non starter in my household.
Sorry but medium size Earthquakes and Hurricanes are not the “wrath of God” for homosexuality or whatever the evil of the decade is. There is always evil in the world.
There were natural disasters of higher magnitude during years when homosexuals were shunned, and hid. There were natural disasters when abortion was illegal.
If it were wrath of God we would know.
Stop blaming catastrophe’s on your fellow sinner. It’s disgusting. Sinners should be brought to Christ, not told they are causing Earthquakes and Hurricanes(they aren’t).
There are many righteous men and women in America.
God would have spared Sodom and Gomorrah for ten righteous men.
But there are millions in America, and you don’t think God would spare us his wrath, but he would spare Sodom and Gomorrah for TEN?
