French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire accused US internet giants on Friday of escaping their fair share of taxes in Europe, as he pushed the EU to urgently address the issue.

Big EU countries have become increasingly frustrated that internet giants such as Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google escape paying a fair tax by basing their operations in lower-tax EU states such as Ireland and Luxembourg.

“We need to make sure in Europe that all companies are paying their fair share of tax, that is the meaning of our initiative,” Le Maire told reporters on the sidelines of talks with his EU counterparts in Tallinn, Estonia. “You know that this is not the case. That huge companies, huge internet companies are not paying a fair contribution to Europe.”

Le Maire said he would formally unveil his proposal on Saturday to reverse the problem. The plan already has the formal backing of Germany, Spain and Italy with Bulgaria, Austria, Greece and Latvia also ready to come on board. …

A question for personal income tax too.

Why do private people and businesses have to do with less with all these taxes, but the government bodies who impose them never can?

If it is lawful to choose where your HQ is then you haven’t skirted anything.

The function of people and businesses is not to fund government.

Because the underlying assumption is that OUR role in life, why we live, is to fund them. We exist for their benefit, plain and simple.

Driving 60 mph in a 60 mph zone is not skirting the law. It is fully complying with the law.

Now may be the time for the UK to use Brexit to it’s advantage and become an EU-near tax haven....:^)

Bill Gates and other hypocrites insist that taxes are not high enough yet.

Bill Gates: ‘Have to raise taxes’
By MJ LEE 01/26/2012 10:13 AM EST Updated 01/26/2012 01:44 PM EST

When asked about the argument that taxing the wealthy would actually hinder job creation by putting pressure on companies to contract and hire less, Gates said he didn’t see that to be the case.

“There is no strong correlation between job creation and what the tax environment has been at any point in time,” gates said. “If something’s a profitable activity, you’re going to engage in it. Yes, there are tax rates that are so high that people may work less. But that’s — you have to get up in the 50, 60 percent range before that’s the case.”

Says the man who repeated lied to Congress to get more visas for more cheap foreign labor to work stateside when he said that there weren’t enough people in this country with these skills.

“Driving 60 mph in a 60 mph zone is not skirting the law. It is fully complying with the law.”

This one of the many reasons, liberals go nuts re President Trump. He hires good tax CPAs and lawyers and pays them well.

Then, he only pays the taxes he owes! Like as you noted driving 60 mph in a 60 mph zone is not illegal nor skirting the law.

Taxes is an expense.

Any company choosing to do business in high tax areas over lower taxed areas, is not being managed properly.

So, who would pay for a loaf of bred that costs $2.00 in a store, over another store where the price is $1.50?

Contributing their fair share is not how any business should be managed. Stupid socialists!!!

I’m sure there are people who are so fixed on the rightness of government funding and the absoluteness of its claim on the means to do its business (as “progressives” and socialist think they ought to be) that they may think not paying a speeding ticket is somehow sikirting your moral responsibility to fund the government.

One of the main ideas of international communism is that every one and every thing every where will be taxed at the same rate such that there will be no where left for an escape. No tax havens any where. In other words, all of Planet Earth would be a prison. Total control by the government, of the government, and for the government.
