The true nuts probably don’t care if it loses money

It was a vehicle for Jennifer Lawrence to go out and badmouth Trump on every possible venue, so it was actually a tax deductible loss propaganda conduit.

Steven Colbert as emcee of the upcoming Emmys plans to smear Trump handily on the show.

It's not necessarily the size of the audience leftists attract, but more about the anti-Trump, anti-conservative publicity it/they generate.

People like Colbert are too delusional to realize that they will be amongst the first to have everything taken from them in the leftist cultural revolution they are promoting. Phones have gotten ‘smarter’, while people have become dumber.

Mother was made for only 30 million. It is predicted to make around 14 million this weekend so I am sure it will make it’s money back and soon we will have a Mother 2. Movies are made so cheaply today that it is easy to get the money back and then some.

“The true nuts probably don’t care if it loses money.”

The movie was made for 30 million. No way will it lose money. First of all it will make 14 million this weekend alone. After the theater run which will probably take 20-25 million, it will be on-demand which will make some money in 3 months. DVD sales will make it some money. Then it will be sold to HBO, Cinemax and the rest for a price. And finally Netflix will buy it to put in their collection. It will probably make around 70 million by the time it is all over. And that is low end.

That is a show I will never watch. I can’t believe the movie has made 177 million dollars and only made for 33 million. That is a huge profit and guess what? Conservatives are going to see it even though Steven King hates Trump....let that settle in the brain a minute.

I hope the movie does worse than Miss Sloane.

Totally impossible. Miss Sloane made 3.5 million TOTAL during the run. Mother already surpassed that. Sorry......

I saw "IT" last weekend and I agree with your take, the acting of the kids was great, but the "scary" scenes were almost laughable. The book was definitely better, as usually the case. Not that the book is great literature or anything but definitely was one of King's better efforts. A good book for casual reading.

Wish King would stick to his writing and stay out of politics, which he is apparently totally clueless about.

I used to like awards shows. Now even before the political crap, I hate how none of the network shows get nominated. It is all cable and streaming shows.....these shows don’t have the FCC to deal with so they can cross all lines if they want. Network TV shows are handicapped big time. Although for once “This is Us” is nominated after no shows being nominated since 2011. I actually hope it wins everything just to show that network TV deserves to be recognized as well.

The politics is annoying. I don’t care if they laugh at the President (if it is funny)....However, they literally had a love fest with President Obama and now they treat Trump like the plague. It is ridiculous especially since before President, most of these people loved him. Just because he is a Republican, they turn on him.

Guess that makes us more tolerant than the hateful liberals then!

But seriously, I gave this some thought and concluded that us seeing or not seeing the movie is not going to harm King in the least. He's already a wealthy man and his great-great-great-grandkids are not going to be able to spend it all. Even if the movie completely bombed, King would continue to increase his wealth as royalties from all his other works continue to roll in.

On the other hands, there are a lot of people involved in making a movie, not to mention all the theater owners who benefit from people going out to see movies and all the people who own or work in the surrounding restaurants that do big business with movie-goers. I assume not all those people are liberals and so I don't mind putting dimes and nickels in their pockets from time to time.

If I applied a political litmus test to every movie, book and musical recording, I'd be sitting at home in a quiet house with nothing to read!

Most of what you hear from moviie stars is written by PR guys. She will do fine in the future because she makes money for the movie companies. Lots of it and that is what actually matters.

Assuming car emissions hurt the environment globally. I will accept that too many cars in a small area like LA which has a smog problem is a local issue. Beijing is a cloud of smoke. Maybe it’s too many people not to many cars?

How in blazes do you get an F from cinema score? That’s weird, apparently not the movie that people expected, you usually get at least a B since people who went to see the movie usually want to see it even if it’s crap. Maybe audiences finally figured out that Aronfsky makes damn weird movies that really should have no mass appeal.

Well you sure gave some great points that is for sure. I am more on the liberal side of going to movies. There are just certain actors or people that have just gone way to far that I can’t watch them anymore. I just can’t watch Tom Cruz anymore, Jane Fonda, Cher, Rosie, Mark Ruffolo, even Leonardo is on thin ice (pun intended), and a few others....just the ones that are crazy weird or hate Trump for really no reason. However, I think Alec Baldwin can be funny and will at least see clips of SNL on You Tube so I don’t totally ban actors but if they go to far I will.

Jennifer Lawrence cut its potential with her Trump hatred. I have liked some of her work in the past, but now there is no way I will watch it.

I enjoy good horror, but I’m hesitant seeing movie that displays children getting their limbs bitten off in gory detail. I’m not sure I can endure that.

I decided to get the audiobook and listen to a bit of it before I saw that movie. I’m over an hour in and...yeah you really get the impression that Stephen King doesn’t care much for his country. There’s a story in it set in 1984 about a couple of downtrodden homosexuals who are targeted and beaten up by a bunch of anti-gay thugs, they talk about how lousy life is for them as gays in general what with anti gay graffiti and pastors as well as people who turn a blind eye to their abuse in their town and having Reagan as their president...

Gee if I didn’t know better I swear King was trying to tell us something.
