A sculpture of a 12-foot-tall afro pick now sits feet from the controversial statue of former Philly mayor Frank Rizzo in Philadelphia.
The statue, installed by Mural Arts Philadelphia, is a temporary exhibit on Thomas Paine Plaza near 15th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard at the city municipal services building.
Created by artist Hank Willis Thomas, it is titled "All Power to All People," and is part of a new public art project called "Monument Lab" that will include works from 20 artists placed at a dozen sites around the city over nine weeks.
Thomas said he didn't create the sculpture in response to the controversy over removing the Rizzo statue, NBC10 reports.
Rizzo, who was mayor from 1972-1980, has been accused of police department corruption and callous treatment of minorities. Others laud his public service and love for the city.

Black Hair Matters

His next planned piece is an homage to the Jheri Curl.
I think I will introduce an art piece depicting a Billy Club. I will suggest it has nothing to do with William Penn.
They want us to treat them like we treat ourselves as they continually point out the extreme differences between us that dont matter to us but incite them to violence because we fail to acknowledge the difference.
All Power to All People
(((
How is that Black Panther fist giving “all people” power? Not giving power to us white people or to black people who are decent citizens.
That’s a racist symbol if I ever saw one.
Even Moo wears white people wigs and straightens her hair.
