AMX with the Go Package.
390 CI V8, Tri-Power, 4 Speed.
400HP, 390 ft pounds of torque, all available at the low end. That's how they built 'em "back in the day."

An AMX. A stepped up version of the Javelin, correct? American Motors. Incorrect. The AMX was shorter, didn't have a back seat and was a different body style than the Javelin though many people did confuse them for being the same. AMC made that problem worse in the early 70's when the AMX and Javelin were literally "the same thing" mostly with different badging, some slight cosmetic differences and different drive train packages.
The 69 AMX was also the only car out of the factory that beat the Chevy Corvette in the same model year in the quarter mile.
If you sat in mine and felt it launch off the line you'd know why, VBG!
Between my AMX and my '76 Grand Prix SJ with a 455 under the hood I have a hard time picking my favorite car.

I had a Matador in the ‘70s. My husband makes fun of me. :). IIRRC it had a lot of power.

Mine is a 1971 Chevelle with a 383 Stroker in it. I am getting ready to give it to my grandson since it was a project originally started for him when he was 14. He is now 27and worthy of the gift.

I’m sorry, it’s been a good while since I knew all my car details.
Let’s say along the GT350 line.
‘69 is when they started elongating the car and “smoothing” it out. Which I don’t like, generally.
Anyway, it’s hard to choose whether muscle or pony or race, or anything.
Dream car? No. The question was only “fav muscle car”.
My dream is any Model J Duesenberg. At least I’ve been up close to them and heard 1 roar.

I’m with you. Too many to choose from. so why not go with originals? Pontiac was the first to switch to stock street performance as a ‘halo’ for the brand when previous practice was to emphasize actual racetrack performance to draw brand interest.

Very nice! I doubt there’ll ever be a 2001 Ford Echo or Chevy something or other show. Those days seem to be gone forever. Only the cars that Detroit quit building will ever be shown.

Well, what I’ve learned from this thread is that FReepers have enough old iron to put on one heck of a car show! Thanks for starting it.
