It is with great sadness that we confirm that Troy Gentry, half of the popular country duo, Montgomery Gentry, was tragically killed in a helicopter crash which took place at approximately 1:00pm today in Medford, New Jersey.
Prayers for those who will mourn his loss.
Why was he in a helicopter?
“Tragically” killed? Is there any other way?
The lesson to learn about helicopters is this: just say no.
Except in cases of military necessity or saving a life, don’t get on them. Just don’t.
The great Don Williams also passed today.
True. Rest in peace to Don Williams and Troy Gentry.
Was to play a show at an airport in Medford NJ
>>The Federal Aviation Administration said the helicopter crashed into a wooded area near the Flying W Airport in Medford hours before Montgomery Gentry was due to perform at a resort that is also housed at the airport.
Oh, how sad. I loved his music!
Too bad out Troy Gentry, too. I’m not a big fan of Montgomery Gentry, but they did several songs I liked a lot.
Not to downplay the unfortunate death of Mr. Gentry, but “a resort at an airport in New Jersey” is not a concept that really works for me. Too many layovers in old Newark, perhaps ...
Tourist helicopters?
Looked up flying W in Medford NJ on google maps and it showed a swimming pool shaped like a plane
That’s sad. Don Williams was great.
I guess there’s a market for it ...
Saw another headline that said Mr. Gentry was 50. Exhausting to think of all those years passing!
Do you mean Don Williams of “Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good” fame? I was in the Army with him, on Hokkaido, Japan. He enlisted under the “Buddy System” with Dave Ganem, both from near Corpus Christi, where the Army guaranteed you’d serve together during your entire enlistment.
Sad day for country music...
Don Williams was 78 years old.

“Tourist helicopters?”
Not unless you put a gun to my head.
Maybe not then.
