Some old car batteries, jumper cables to an running outside vehicle and inexpensive “modified” sine wave inverters can provide inexpensive, adequate power for resistive loads through extension cords in an emergency.
Don’t do it in the rain.

Good advice, except my condo is on 3rd floor. Not easy to connect to a car in parking lot. Oh well, it will be peanut butter & jelly plus fruit bars Plus fresh fruit only, if power goes out.
