Yawkey T stop could be renamed if street changes (Boston)

The state Department of Transportation will “follow the lead” of the city and rename the Yawkey commuter rail station — as some lawmakers have advocated — if Boston officials ultimately rebrand nearby Yawkey Way, a MassDOT spokeswoman said.

State transportation officials say they aren’t “actively exploring or considering” renaming Yawkey Station amid a debate over its controversial namesake, former Red Sox owner Tom Yawkey.

Imagine if Yawkey drove an Oldsmobile, with a female companion, off a wooden bridge and survived while she died. Talk about "haunted."

We will have to rename everything if this hysteria keeps up.

Why? Because any historic figure, of any kind, will not have had a 21st century politically correct world view and stands on issues back in their day. If we are going to judge by today’s PC standards, nobody in history, not even the revered Martin Luther King, could pass muster.

When was the last time Boston had an honest politician? Lots of named streets, memorials, etc WILL HAVE TO COME DOWN in CRIME TOWN.

That goes for anything “KENNEDY”. Why don’t they rename Fenway Park the “Mary Jo Kopechne Memorial Stadium and Swimming Club”?

The next renaming will be for a person who had a second cousin twice removed whose surname was Lee and a third cousin thrice removed whose first name was Robert.

The dirty little secret about Boston is that it is probably the most racist city in the nation.

The university snowflakes come and go, but the white racist working stiffs are there for the long pull.

Once you understand that basic reality the “Yawkey Way” controversy begins to get amusing.
