Police say a Florida woman invited the father of her 4-year-old daughter to join her for "one last drug binge" before she entered a rehab program.
But 29-year-old Joseph Beavins overdosed sometime Sunday night and now 23-year-old Taylor Cheyenne Perry is facing a child neglect charge.
The child found Beavins unresponsive early Monday. Perry and the girl left, but she called for an ambulance for Beavins.
It's not known whether she has a lawyer. The Department of Children and Families took the child.

Just neglect charges? That poor child doesn’t need to be anywhere around that woman. Ever.

The child has to be taken from her. It’s the only chance this child has.
I decided not to post the photo I found online of the mother. She should have her tubes tied too.

Maybe she’ll get to see the child “one last time,” and then she’ll go to her “real” family.
To: Jeff Chandler
That’s the mentality of these addicts. I used to watch “Intervention”, and the realization that they will no longer use drugs dawns on them. So they go out and scrounge up that one last high.

Seems like the felony murder law might come into play too.

One doesn’t always die from an “overdoes”, right? (Not even from an overdose!). The dad did die, not that you would know it from this poorly written piece.

If a death occurs during a crime, then anyone involved in the crime can be charged with the death. If that holds, then doing illegal drugs and having them around the child should bring on at least manslaughter.

I think the crime has to be a felony for the felony murder rule to come into play but I’m guessing there was a felony committed here. Not sure.

Maybe. No matter, she shouldn’t be allowed anywhere around children. Or dogs or cats.

If she gets out of this scrape the NEA would like to hire her as a grade school teacher.

to join her for "one last drug binge" before she entered a rehab program.
Right. One "last" drug binge. It takes a real moment of clarity for a drug addict to get serious about getting straight - maybe the death of her child's father and a jail sentence will be the turning point for this woman.
To: nickcarraway
Sounds like she was trying to win a custody battle...
