This subaru commercial is a gem. Old man on his way, fishing gear loaded up...

LOL, I was skeptical...as a four time Subaru owner, I love the vehicles and their service department at the dealer, but dislike nearly everything else about them including their marketing.

That commercial was okay, though...:)

I like this commercial. I really like the looks of the “old man”. Has really chiseled facial features. A weather beaten look. Wonder if he is really a surfer.

Why would I pay for a guaranteed blown head gasket?

Reminds me of Spencer Tracey in “The Old Man and The Sea”.

Why would I pay for a guaranteed blown head gasket?

They haven't solved that yet?

Even after all these years?

He doesn’t KISS or fondle another old man? How did this get approved?

My 2002 Subie blew it’s head gasket in 2008, and was fixing to do it again last year.
That’s why I now have a Corolla.

We loved our first Subaru (2015 Forester Premium) We bought another one (2017 Forester Limited).

We LOVE this car! We LOVE the dealer!

Great gas mileage
Great acceleration (4 cyl)
Spacious interior
Great safety features (7 air bags)
Front doors open VERY wide (almost 90 degrees) easy access.
Comfortable heated seats
Great handling
Great braking
Spacious cargo area
Small on the outside YUGE on the inside. How do they do that?
Backup camera, power liftgate, “no zone” warning mirrors, nifty options.
Great stereo, with steering wheel controls AND play all your favorite tunes from a memory stick

3 year, 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty means that we won’t have to worry about head gaskets or ANYTHING else. We will buy another one before the warranty runs out.

The old man should get rid of the junker and buy a NEW Subaru.

In before the attacks, you don’t need to be rich to be able to afford a new Subaru.

The old man's good a peace sticker and an "I ♥ Throeau" sticker on his car. Subaru still identifies with the lefty demographic. No lesbians at least. The calendar on the dash was a nice touch. I had one of those.

Subaru: Lesbo Limo. Only liberals tend to drive the damned things...slowly, too!

My husband and I have had 7 Subarus between us over the years. Many of my conservative friends have them. They are good cars and we keep them around 14 years with few problems.

...to lift your spirits this morning

It did just that!

The message was not the transportation but rather who met and where.

I literally do not understand many commercials I see today and some that are thought provoking I never remember who paid for me to see it.

I trust those in the business know their business and their potential customers. In business you usually market the products or services to satisfy or create a desire. If you can handle the cash flow and are confident you could just skip marketing and go straight to sells.

Thank you! I rarely start threads, you never know where they'll wind up. Sure didn't mean to start a pile-on on Subaru. Just wanted to share a heartwarming and well-done micro story.

Subaru boxer engines will last practically forever if you keep up with the maintenance and drive them properly.
