The army and its allies had made rapid advances in recent days and pushed through Islamic State lines with the help of heavy artillery and Russian air strikes.

The city has been cut off from government areas since 2013 after rebel groups rose up against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Islamic State then overran rebel positions and encircled the government enclave and the nearby air base in the city in 2014.

During the long siege, high-altitude air drops supplied the city.

One nice thing about the Syrian Army overrunning an ISIS stronghold is that no ISIS folks from that stronghold will ever make trouble again. The Syrian army’s prisoners, the few that are taken, do not survive long enough to be rescued or released. No IS fighters taken on the battlefield should live longer than necessary to obtain intelligence from them.

Neocons on FR told me that the Syrian Army helps ISIS and doesn’t fight them.

Where are the neocons now?

Dropped by whom, and supplying whom in the end?

I rarely can figure out what side the USA is on. WTH are we doing there? Isn’t it about time Congress asks questions? At this point,I would let the Russians deal with it. My heart goes out to the innocent, but this is not our fight.

The Syrian general in charge of the defense of DEZ has grown in reputation to mythical hero. He fought these last five years on the front lines with his men, and kept morale intensely high.

Pardon me, but I just can’t get all worked up over the “horrible” things Assad and the Russians are doing to ISIS, which is Obola’s subhuman, utterly vile, evil spawn. Seems to me they’re doing civilization’s work.
