An Idaho police department on Friday revealed that the patient in a Utah hospital is one of its reserve officers and thanked the heroic nurse who informed law enforcement that it was against hospital policy to draw blood from an unconscious patient without a warrant.
The Rigby Police Department in a statement on Facebook identified the patient as William Gray, one of its reserve officers. Rigby is a city in southeast Idaho.
The department said Gray was severely injured in a car accident during his full-time truck-driving job.
The Rigby Police Department would like to thank the nurse involved and hospital staff for standing firm, and protecting Officer Grays rights as a patient and victim. Protecting the rights of others is truly a heroic act, the department said.
Salt Lake City's mayor and police chief on Friday apologized after footage emerged of a Utah law enforcement officer arresting a Utah University Hospital nurse, who said she was assaulted and unlawfully detained after informing police of the hospitals policy.
The nurse, Alex Wubbels, said she told police that hospital policy does not allow blood to be drawn from an unconscious patient without a warrant.

Rigby is also the hometown of Philo T. Farnsworth, inventor of the television. Very small town, I don’t think even 4,000.

Very real!
Cop on Cop violence is not treated well.
The Mayor is gutless. It’s not his department to apologize on behalf of thugs.
“Very real!
Cop on Cop violence is not treated well.”
Hence my first comment. These dudes really messed up big time.
.
This fact was part of the original story.
Nothing new here.
,.
I want to see some real anguish come to these “officers.”
and hope that because we are being so nice to her she won't sue the department.
Wasn’t the truck driver the victim of the guy the cops were chasing?

The Rigby Police Department is the agency of the unconscious person that the Salt Lake City, Utah Police Department wanted to draw blood from.
Any suing that may go on will be aimed at Salt Lake, not Rigby.
Yes, the truck driver was the victim. But they would have needed to frame him to protect themselves if the chase was improper or violated policy for a high speed chase.
The question isn’t whether the cop that committed battery, false arrest, and kidnapping was dirty, but rather how widespread the corruption was.
I hope so, but time will tell.
That low life cop payne deserves to have every bone in his body broken, then dragged down the street by a car and then slowly hung in the town square. The police chief should be fired for covering up and letting this human garbage continue to work until the video outed him to an enraged populace.
Obviously what the detective did was assault and unlawful restraint.
I read that he had been fired and rightly so. Soon to be aressted, I hope.
Sad that the other officers did nothing.
The victim was working as a tow truck driver in SLC but is a reserve officer in Rugby? Are they close?
Why did the detective want his blood?

Always good to read the article before inserting foot hey?
When was he fired? Last I read,he was put on administrative leave with pay.
She should sue for false arrest, kidnapping, assault and battery, section 1983 violation of her civil rights, and everything else her lawyer can creatively come up with. These things need to pay.
