I read another version, that the cop is a phlebotomist who does blood draws on DUI suspects, that he HIMSELF wanted to do the blood draw, and the nurse wouldn’t allow him access to the patient.

Further that the patient was not only unconscious, but burned, and therefore at very high risk of infection, and obviously the police officer is not trained in infection control the way a medical professional is, and should be no where near that patient.

IMO, the doctor in charge should have stepped up as well, administration should have been called, and the hospital attorney. The nurse shouldn’t have to face down,by herself, a police officer violating not only hospital policy but the law, and endangering a patient.

The lawsuits are going to fly on this one. The PD will pay just to get rid of the adverse publicity and the two police officers will either be fired on placed out of the public eye for a long time I suspect.

They should be in the lockup for their conspiracy to commit Felony Kidnapping.

Armed abduction can be a reason for armed and lethal resistance. I don’t care if the abductors wear blue. Too bad no one (including me) have or had the balls to resist. :(

Major league props to the nurse for standing firm in protecting the unconscious patient’s rights.

I would have definitely been arrested had I been there and saw what was happpening to that nurse.
Makes me very angry to watch that thug handcuff her.
Heck of a strong nurse there; she stood firm while a bunch of male pussies stood by and let her be abused

Possibly a line of reasoning on the thought process of the “LEO’s” involved. The victim is a CDL holder and D.O.T. regulations state that any time a C.D.L. holder is involved in an accident that results in a fatality, regardless of fault, they must submit to a drug test. My understanding of this situation, the laws regarding blood draws would take precedence.

One question... how did we get the body cam footage from both officers so quickly?

Seems the cops were grasping at anything to protect themselves from suits for the accident which was caused by a person they were chasing - bet they would have doctored the blood of the victim to get a reading claiming he was drunk....

This story reminds me of a certain very unprofessional police officer named Caleb Nielsen in the Lone Peak police department in Highland, Utah; which is about 30 miles south of Salt Lake City. One of these days I shall write up for history what happened and file a complaint with the DEA and IRS. In the meantime I believe that It is because of people like him that we have a terrible opioid crisis growing out of control.
