My friends: I believe that one of the things that keeps us civilized is what I would do to that cop if that nurse was a member of my family. We all support law enforcement but if she was YOUR family member? A civilized society would say it’s time to take a step back and let the legal system take it’s course. My friends that could have happened to ANY of us. A female? The man’s a coward. He knows procedures. If you don’t protect your family you are not a man.

The cop(s) will be fired and the PD will settle out of court with the nurse for a generous amount, if they know what is good for them. Otherwise the nurse’s lawyer will do a number on the PD budget.

His LT apparently told him to arrest tbe nurse if she “didn’t allow him” to go in and draw the blood. She wasn’t physically stopping him from doing anything though. Nobody would have physically stopped him.

I hate to say this but Obama would have gotten the Feds involved just for the publicity-appropriate.

Major league props to the nurse for standing firm in protecting the unconscious patient’s rights.

And the police officers won’t be charged, convicted, spend prison time, pay damages instead of tax payers?

I don’t think this cop could get a job in Cobb County, GA.

I never have figured out what the cop’s agenda was here. They were in high speed pursuit of a (hopefully) bad guy. The bad guy was killed. Most cops would have declared victory and called it a day. Why he was targeting the victim here isn’t clear. Maybe trying to set up a defense to a lawsuit based on inappropriate high speed pursuit? If so, fire the chief and the city manager and whoever thought this was a good idea.

I’m not clear on that. Either he was there to withdraw the blood for legal purposes (he was a trained phlebotomist), or be was demanding the nurse do it. Either way, the nurse wasn’t allowing it to happen because it was outside of the legal parameters. Detective got bumpkus, so he arrested her.

She can do a civil suit on him but I think retirement funds can be protected?
Still would seem worth it for how she was attacked.
That video is chilling to watch.

She better move out of town while she can. A dirty cop usually has dirty buddies that will plant dope on someone or otherwise frame them.

How would they fake the blood test? That’s what I can’t figure out out. Unless they were going to run the test at the station. Either way, the cop needs to see jail time

If I were the nurse, I would feel abandoned by my employer.
I know nobody wants to get shot, but there was NOBODY there to speak up for this poor lady when she was suddenly arrested - nobody in the video looks upset or shouts for the idiot to stop.

And anyone in her family. Take the money and go as far as they can.

The patient is a reserve cop out of Idaho. His (the patient’s) chief said the same thing. From the link:

The Rigby Police Department would like to thank the nurse involved and hospital staff for standing firm and protecting Officer Gray’s rights as a patient and victim. Protecting the rights of others is truly a heroic act.

I agree with you.I have thought from the beginning of this that there are things associated with the police chase that they want to distract attention from. They wanted to avoid a lawsuit from the victim. Now they might wind up with two lawsuits.
