France and Germany plan to issue a new proposal to tax internet giants so that they pay a fair contribution in every country where they earn money, French finance minister Bruno Le Maire said on Sunday.
We will unveil a new plan along with our German partners at the next finance ministers meeting in Tallinn in mid-September for taxing technology giants including Google, Apple, Facebook and Amazon, Le Maire said in a Facebook Live chat. We propose taking the revenues of these large companies as a reference point, and use this to determine a tax level so that these companies pay what they should to the treasuries of every country where they make money, he said.
He acknowledged, however, that similar proposals had already been made at an EU level as well as for the OECD group of developed economies, without success. For now, these talks have stalled, Le Maire said.

So what would be the punishment for not paying Cesar’s new tax?
They will shut down Google, YT and FB?
This is serious popcorn city for us — if the companies say “nyet” then their fascist credentials are up for grabs.
This will be fun to watch. Doesn’t affect any of us one whit.
Estonia makes a big deal about being cutting edge in internet issues. So for the western EU to propose taxing the internet in Estonia is hilarious.
Good, let the good leftists at those companies feel the bite of the socialism they promote.
Google, Apple, Facebook and Amazon. Socialists taxing socialists. Feed the utopians. The collectivist giants should be happy to pay more.
Well, all those companies love Northern European Socialism, so they’ll pay the tax gleefully.
Euros suck. So do the Internet giants. Gues I’ll just get popcorn
That’s a shame...
What do you think they would do if the US decided to tax Siemens, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, etc. at the corporate level based upon revenues for sales in the US?
Well they were promised a unicorn! Lord help us and we have work to do. It’s gonna filter down here.
Spent a bunch of summers in Deutschland, they’re bizarre. Good people but just a bit weird.
The internet will get more expensive for consumers.
Sounds like bad luck.
